Gloucester and District Christian Choir

What’s New

Choir Concert.

The Choir are holding a concert on 20th May in aid of 'Brittle Bricks' visit to the Philippines. We hope to raise £400 to buy a ton of rice. This will make a huge difference to so many people as it will make life less desperate and enable them to continue their vocational studies through PCF.

July 12th will see local band Brittle Bricks flying out to the Philippines to put on concerts for the communities who live and scavenge on the rubbish dumps. While there the and are planning to distribute a ton of rice and give away a pedicab per gig. Because of the high unemployment these folks cannot find paid work and so are forced to sift through the rubbish to find things to recycle and sell for a days food. When it rains they cannot scavenge; so they do not eat! This rice will act as a stop gap for the community each time the rain comes down and will enable the people to carry on. This rice represents over 10,000 meals; enough to cover the community for 4 downpours. The Rice costs just £400 or just 4p per meal.

The Pedicab is essentially a bicycle taxi and will enable 1 - 2 men to earn a living as opposed to scavenging; While their pay won't be huge; it will be substantially higher than the money they get from scavenging and will make a huge difference to the whole family; just like buying a fisherman a fishing boat; this is part of he longer term solution for the community.
